Common Ants in Louisiana and How to Get Rid of Them

Carpenter Ants

These ants need to be dealt with as soon as possible as they can be pernicious if left to their own devices. Don't think that carpenter means that they are good at fixing things, it's quite the opposite! These ants can cause serious damage to your wood if they aren't taken care of right away.

Fire Ants

Commonly found outside where they create tell-tale mounds, fire ants are best avoided. If you want to get rid of them, we recommend a fumigation bomb that will make the mound inhabitable.

Pavement Ants

These small brown ants typically live outdoors and you may see them on your driveway, patio, or sidewalk. Even though they live outside, it's best to get rid of them before they set up camp next to your foundation and cause some serious problems.

Odorous House Ants
These are the ants that emit an unpleasant odor when they are squashed or stepped on. Eradicating a colony of odorous house ants can prove extremely difficult because the colony will have more than one queen, and they will all work together. Yikes!

Knowing which type of ant is causing you problems can help you to adopt the most effective strategy for eliminating them. If the problem has gotten out of control, or you still aren't sure what to do to fix the problem, we recommend that you call in professionals.
