Get Rid of the Problem GNATurally

Fungus gnats are 90% of the time associated with plants, and breed on microscopic fungi growing within the soil of a potted plant. In other cases that are rare, water leaks or moisture issues can be to blame for fungus gnats because of mold and mildew. So, how do you get rid of these pests GNATurally?

Try this simple solution:

1 Teaspoon of baking soda & 1 Quart of water should do the trick.

Mix well, allowing the baking soda to completely dissolve in the water. Pour the mixture over the top of the soil, making sure to cover the soil good and even. Remember, this is a mixture ratio so not all plants will need the entire quart of water whereas some might need more. The main goal is to add enough of the solution to your plants that it can react with the mold, mildew, and fungus. Adding the baking soda solution to the plant will not eliminate the gnats directly, it will only eliminate the gnat’s food source which will eliminate the larva and prevent them from becoming adults. Not to worry though, the lifespan of an adult gnat is only about a few days, so you should not see any more gnats in the environment within a relatively short period of time.

It’s important to know that if you decide to use this method of treatment, you need to apply the solution to ALL of your plants as re-infestation could occur if only infected plants are treated. Do not water your plants with this solution every time they need to be watered as you may eventually kill them. Water your plants once every few days or twice a week if you would normally water them once a day, and water your plants once per week or once every two weeks if you would normally water them twice per week once the gnat issue is gone.
